Excavator is one of the twenty jobs available to players. Excavators easily clear out large areas of dirt, sand, and other materials, enabling players to shape and do what they want with their land.
Income and Experience
Excavators gain money and experience from clearing out and digging dirt, sand, gravel, and similar blocks. Use /j info Excavator In-Game to see more information
(Level 10+) The flatten ability allows excavators to break and flatten ground faster than using only a normal shovel. However, it can only be used on stone, dirt, grass, sand, and sandstone in the excavator’s town.
The higher one's excavator job level is, the more flatten modes are unlocked. While holding a shovel, left-click the air to switch between the different flatten modes:
|Excavator Level||Flatten Mode Unlocked||What it does...|
|10||Radius: 1||Breaks a 3x3 area centered around the block that is right-clicked.|
|30||Radius: 2||Breaks a 5x5 area centered around the block that is right-clicked.|
|50||Radius: 3||Breaks a 7x7 area centered around the block that is right-clicked.|
|10||Range: 2||Breaks a 3 long chain of blocks starting at the block right-clicked, and moving in the direction the player is facing.|
|20||Range: 4||Breaks a 5 long chain of blocks starting at the block right-clicked, and moving in the direction the player is facing.|
|30||Range: 6||Breaks a 7 long chain of blocks starting at the block right-clicked, and moving in the direction the player is facing.|
|40||Range: 8||Breaks a 9 long chain of blocks starting at the block right-clicked, and moving in the direction the player is facing.|
|50||Range: 10||Breaks a 11 long chain of blocks starting at the block right-clicked, and moving in the direction the player is facing.|
Shift left-clicking the air with a shovel will lock you into your current flatten mode, which can be unlocked by shift left-clicking again.
Shift left-clicking a block with a shovel will lock your flatten to only above that y-radius, or height.
Warning: This ability does use up your shovel's durability, so make sure you pay attention to that if you don't want your shovel to break. However, flatten will cancel itself if the durability is too low, but breaking any block after that warning without using flatten will destroy your tool.
(Level 20+) Another ability that excavators unlock is Terraforming, which allows players to extend existing biomes using vanilla experience. The area being terraformed must be between 3x3 and 16x16 blocks large, and at least one block in the area must be the biome that you are changing the area into. To terraform, go to one corner of the area you want to terraform and type //pos1. Go to the opposite corner and type //pos2. Then, type /terraform [biome]. Terraforming costs 25xp per block terraformed; use the command /terraform [biome] cost in order to see exactly how much your selected area for terraforming will cost.
(Level 40+) Excavators can also create a biome without needing that type of biome already present. In order to seed a new biome, simply use the commands //pos1 and //pos2 to set the opposite corners of the area you wish to terraform (must be between 3x3 and 16x16), and use the command /terraform seed [biome] in order to change the biome. Seeding costs 250xp per block seeded; use the command /terraform seed [biome] cost in order to see exactly how much your selected area for seeding will cost.
Excavators are able to craft 3 sizes of their respective job bag, which holds excavation drops. For an exact whitelist, level requirements, and recipes, visit Job Bags.
